The suburb of East Sheen is in south west London and forms a part of the Borough of Richmond.
Quite a few open spaces and parks can be seen here including Richmond Park, East Sheen Common and Palewell Common. East Sheen used to be a part of the parish of Mortlake in Surrey. Metropolitan Police District included East Sheen back in 1840. In 1894, the civil parish of North Sheen was established which split it off from Mortlake, and stayed behind in the Borough of Richmond.
Mortlake’s other half (East Sheen included) was transferred to the urban district of Barnes. North Sheen got incorporated in Kew in 1965 and joined Barnes and Twickenham to form the Borough of Richmond, thus bringing North Sheen and East Sheen in the same borough.
